about

There is a nearly three-decade time gap between the time when composers Rosen Balkanski and G.F.Telemann created their works! For this reason, among others, this collection of musical gems might seem indiscriminate, but it is marked by a nobility of spirit, poetic insight and spontaneous expression. These works rarely make their way into concert programmes even though some of them have been created by geniuses like Tartini, Telemann, Schubert, Boccherini, Paganini.
Here is some information about the less well-known composers in a nutshell:
Jacques Aubert is a French violinist and composer, member of the Vingt-quatre violons du roi royal court orchestra, which was very famous in the 18c. He created the first french violin concerto.
The famous Italian Baroque virtuoso Pietro Locatelli was a big influence on the young Paganini, while Mozart’s French coeval Jean-Baptiste Bréval was a renowned cellist and composer at the time.
Alexander Raychev is a famous Bulgarian 20c. composer, who created many operas, symphonies and other notable pieces.
Rosen Balkanski, born in 1968, is a famous Bulgarian guitarist, associate professor at the Music Academy in Sofia and a prolific composer of international renown.
The Stankov-Radionov Duo, founded in 1974, has won First Prize and Gold Medal at the I International Chamber Music Festival in Osaka’93 as well as many other awards. The duo has been performing and making recordings on four continents in some of the most prestigious concert halls. In their capacity as violin and chamber music professors Stankov and Radionov have taught hundreds of talents, with the youngest virtuosos playing on this CD, Alexander Ivanov and Theodora Atanasova, standing out with their performance. They are among the most gifted and inspiring Bulgarian musicians.
We are deeply grateful to I Evangelical Church in Sofia where the CD was recorded!
